Cake Smash Photo Session

About

These sessions are great fun for a child's 1st birthday and can be customised to a theme or colour scheme of your choice. All you need to bring along is your cake of your choice for your little one to have great fun with.

The photo session starts with capturing your little one with the cake smash setup with some props, before we bring the cake into play. A family portrait can also be taken at this point. Then we bring in the cake - the best part! After all the cake smashing fun, it's time to clear away and get ready for the bath splash. This involves lot's of bubbles from the bubble machine, splashing and rubber ducks!

FAQ

What props are included?

For cake smash - Balloon arch full or half. Wooden number "ONE" or "1". Backdrop colour, white, blue, pink, grey or cream. Wooden cake stand. Wooden spoon.

For bath splash - Metal bath tub prop. Bath time scene backdrop and props.

What do I need to bring

For cake smash - Cake, outfit any additional props you wish to include, i.e bunting with child's name on.

For bath splash - Bubble bath and a towel.

Your child's water bottle to wash down the cake :)

Portraits/family portrait - An outfit to get dressed into before or after the cake smash.

Do you provide the cake

No, I do not provide the cake for a cake smash session. Due to the range of different cake styles and designs it makes much more sense that you work with a cake maker directly to discuss your needs. Conversations can also be had directly with the cake maker regarding allergies if any.

I highly recommend local cake maker Shiromi who owns Bakes by Bandy. Her email is - bakesby.bandys@yahoo.com (Instagram) (Facebook), she even delivers the cake to the studio ready for your photo session. Supermarkets also offer a great range of cakes, just need to make sure the cake is soft enough to be smashed, 6" - 8" in size should be perfect.

When should I book the cake smash

I recommend booking in about 3 months in advance, this will secure a date and time most convenient for you. Weekend sessions and between October and December are extremely busy, so booking in advance is highly advisable. I will however do everything possible to accommodate last minute photo session requests. A £10 deposit is required to secure your session and the remaining balance is due on the day.

What outfit should my child wear

It really is entirely up to you. I do advise something you don't mind getting messy and covered in cake! I do have a few outfits, nappy covers, hats, tutus etc.
